On July 4th, 2010

On July 4th, I went to my pool to view the fireworks. The indoor pool is on the 44th floor of a Manhattan building and the views are incredible. It is surrounded by an outdoor patio. We watched the glorious sun set in an orange sky over the Hudson River. And when the fireworks began, we were so high up the flashes of color were eye level.

A Drive to North Jersey

Tonight, I took a beautiful drive to Edgewater, NJ to a store called Ambience. As I drove to Edgewater, the view of the Manhattan skyline on River Road was breathtaking. I parked to take some pictures.
I went to Ambience to attend a Teresa Giudice signing for her book, "Skinny Italian." You know who Teresa is. She is on Bravo's, "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." How entertaining is that show? I love love love it. Teresa is just flawlessly gorgeous in person, and as sweet as can be. As I exited the store and walked to my car, the golden sunset reflected on the facade of the Manhattan buildings was glorious. As a matter of fact, I think some of these photos are so beautiful that they look like they have been painted in watercolors.

The Limelight Marketplace

The Limelight Marketplace is a mini mall which contains a sublime foot court and many interesting little boutiques. But, I am most in awe of the old beautiful stained glass which is retained from when the church (which now houses this mall) was built over 160 years ago.

The Country Living House of the Year 2010

"Country Living partnered with New World Home to create a line of historically inspired Green Modular Homes that feature stylish and eco-friendly ideas for every room." I went down today to the New York City’s World Financial Center and took the tour! The house is on the Hudson River and there was a view of the Statue of Liberty in the distance. I even saw a huge cruise ship pass. It was a beautiful day.

Here are a few of the photos I took.

Waterways and Vistas, a Central Park Tour

We "walked from the Dairy Gift Shop to Belvedere Castle, and learned about the intricate design of Central Park's web of pastoral landscapes and formal romantic vistas."

ah!

I love the smell of "comments disabled" in the morning! lmao Thwarted much? rofl
I need my comments enabled! Without my fan mail, I am so bored!
My number one fan gives me a reason to blog!
He is my motivation!

Without his perverse commentary... I am a lost soul in this naked city... with nothing to do but to post my old photos dripping with cellulite.

Marina Abramović, The Artist Is Present

Today, I went to the Museum of Modern Art to see "Marina Abramović : The Artist Is Present."

"This performance retrospective traces the prolific career of Marina Abramović (Yugoslav, b. 1946) with approximately fifty works spanning over four decades of her early interventions and sound pieces, video works, installations, photographs, solo performances, and collaborative performances made with Ulay (Uwe Laysiepen)."

The Washington Post has some excellent photos to view for those who are unable to visit these breathtaking projects on display. It is an amazing and astounding exhibit that includes performance art. "I am tired of waiting in waiting rooms... fast shopping in shopping malls. I want to go away. I want to get old, really old so that nothing matters anymore. I want to not want anymore."

"The Artist is Present" is on YouTube and in Financial Times. And Amir Baradaran succeeds in getting the artist to laugh.

Where did you go tonight?

I went to an event at Borders with Jill Zarin (of The Real Housewives of New York) and Lisa Wexler and Jill's mother, Gloria Kamen. They discussed lessons on how to motivate, mediate, and make the most of life every day. And of course, they were there for a discussion of their book, "Secrets of a Jewish Mother: Real Advice, Real Stories, Real Love," and a signing.

I aim to oblige!

She requested Boca! "Why don’t you go to Boca? I think it would be good for you. A few stories of your fellow retirees might make for good reading." So, here is a photo from my trip to Boca from a few years ago. Look! I was walking with Renee Taylor! LMAO! Well, you asked.... Such nachas!

Then, we went back to my friend's apartment in Aventura and enjoyed the view.

During that trip, I actually stayed at the Bal Harbour Sheraton. In it's day, it received guests such as John F. Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, and Ed Sullivan, Sadly, it is no more. I took plenty of photos in the hotel and around the hotel on that vacation. "Analyze This" was filmed at the Bal Harbour Sheraton and Billy Crystal's wedding scene takes place at this pool in one of the beginning scenes. Please enjoy these photos of the gorgeous pool.

The view from the room's terrace was divine.

"Night Watch," photographs by Richard Bachmann

Today, I went to The National Arts Club to see "Night Watch," the photographs by Richard Bachmann.

"Night Watch" features 17 large format black and white prints, each capturing a dazzling new perspective of the city. They were taken by Richard Bachmann between 1996 and 2007 from rooftops and out-of-the-way vantage points. The photographs are an historical documentation of an ever-changing city in the graphic patterns of its buildings and streets.
