Plac Grzybowski: Warsaw, Poland

Yom HaShoah: April 28, 2014

RIP Estera Grinberg from Lubartow, Poland. She died in Sobibor on October 14, 1943.

Estera Grinberg: "Tomorrow, we will no longer be in this world. The sun will rise and set again, the flowers will bloom and fade– and we won’t be here.” “We have nothing to lose, and what is there that we will miss in the world in which we are living?”

Eda Lichtman, who survived Sobibor: "Only in Israel did I find peace for myself."

Gentrification in Chelsea

I walked by this location yesterday and was sad to see about four old adjacent buildings torn down to clear space for probably what will be a new high rise for millionaires.

The red buildings on the left now exist in a few remaining photos and only in my mind.

Straight and to the Left

This is the side entrance to the elementary school I attended on Long Island. And it was at that doorway that my mother handed me an alternative lunch whenever the school lunch on any given day was unappealing.

And it was during Miss Langford's third grade class that we buried a dead hamster in the dirt to the left of that slide in the background...
