Mr. Levine Travels to the Aleutian Islands during WWII

My father made a series of "records" when he was in the Army during WW2. They were made as he crossed the country from New York to the Aleutian Islands in Alaska and they were for his family who were back in Brooklyn.

After he died in 1994, I had the records transferred to audiotapes. A copy of the tapes are now at THE NATIONAL WWII MUSEUM in New Orleans.

Rocky, the Musical

Tonight I saw Rocky, the Musical. It is terrific, and the final scene is exciting and breathtaking! The boxing ring moves out over the orchestra and those in "circle seating" have to actually get up and move to the stage area behind the ring. They become part of the cheering section in the show and those in the side seats also become active in the show.

It was so good... I am seeing it again!

Labor Day

This film had a profound effect on me. It is sad and bittersweet... and well,  be warned you may view it through a veil of tears.

"I'd take 20 more years just to have another 3 days with you."

"I spent half of my life worrying my mother wouldn't be able to go out into the world alone, but as it turned out...."

As it turned out...

The Photo That Got Away

Yeah... it was one of those days: a day where the better part of hours was spent searching for a photo that exists in my memory and is nowhere to be found.

Well, the good news is I found three photos from the group taken on that day in June 1966. But, the one that was taken under the Booth Theater on that day is nowhere to be found.

I suppose I have to see the glass as half full. But that photo is the photo that got away.

This is the above location today:
