ON A CLEAR NIGHT

It's strange how some memories come flooding back. 

I was remembering how, as a child on a clear night, I could look out of my bedroom window and see the back of the lighted houses that were on the street around the corner. 

Long after I moved out of that house, a group of homes were built on what was once a large farm which provided an unobstructed view. 

Back then, on a warm summer night, all we could hear on those quiet streets were the sounds of crickets. And if we looked up, thousands of stars in the sky were visible. 

The view of the back of those lighted houses seemed almost magical to me back then. I would imagine all the stories within those homes. 

So today I looked at the front of those houses. They still seem almost perfect to me.
