A Sweet Elixir

And it is the peace and quiet of great solitude that is so addictive and intoxicating to those who "get it."

A Gone Vista on a Gone Day

"The cousin dropped us off at the sad lights of a carnival on Alameda Boulevard at Federal... There were merry-go-rounds, Ferris wheels, popcorn, roulette wheels, sawdust, and hundreds of young Denver kids in jeans wandering around. Dust rose to the stars together with every sad music on earth."

TAKING IT FROM THE STREET

These are photos I took today of street views showing the inside of Chelsea art galleries. I love how the outdoor buildings and cars are reflected and visible in the glass facades of the galleries.

The Great Walls of NYC

from uft.org:
"Murals, in all their variety, decorate outside walls, hallways, auditoriums and even stairwells in schools throughout the city. They celebrate diversity, capture characters in favorite stories, reflect the communities where students live and the subjects they are studying, and illustrate important events and even important ideas."

The PS 97 mural. I was a teacher at PS 97 from 1989 - 1999.

And the PS 51 mural. I was a teacher at PS 51 from 1971 - 1985.
The photo below the mural was taken on the 1972 graduation day.

THE STORY:
The children at PS 51 painted a wall.
Then, a story about the wall mural appeared in a children's magazine.
The photo above is of me and a student. It was taken in 1972, after the graduation that year.
The wall mural is clearly visible in the background.
(The students painted the wall, the illustration of the wall for the periodical was I think by J. Robinson)

Tom Mardirosian played Agamemnon Busmalis in the HBO series, OZ. I saw him in the local supermarket and I was so happy I had my camera for this great photo op.

Art Installation by Tom Otterness

"An art installation by Tom Otterness, called Life Underground, was installed in 2001 in the NYC subway station at 14th Street and 8th Avenue. It features whimsical bronze sculptures, including a sewer alligator, scattered about the station." I was at that station today and took these photos.
