JOKER is a darker more psychotic version of KING OF COMEDY, both coincidentally featuring Robert DeNiro.
Arthur Fleck is the 2019 film version of Rupert Pupkin... but both protagonists were probably about the same age since JOKER takes place in 1981 and KING OF COMEDY is set in 1982.
